TÜV SÜD PSB opens new laboratory in Vietnam providing testing and certification services for textiles, clothing and footwear exporters

Ho Chi Minh City - TÜV SÜD PSB Vietnam, a member of the global leading technical services provider TÜV SÜD, today announced the grand opening of a new laboratory in Vietnam that provides testing, inspection and certification services for textiles, clothing and footwear (softlines) products. The new laboratory supports Vietnamese manufacturers meet international quality and safety requirements through faster turn-around time and unparalleled cost efficiency. The new laboratory is located at Bohemia Sai Gon building, 19/5A street, Tân Bình industrial park, Tân Phú district, Ho Chi Minh city.

“The opening of the new lab in Vietnam is a significant milestone for the company, and among the company’s most important investment of 2010. It will support Vietnam’s export sector and enhance job creation in the manufacturing sector” comments Dr Manfred Bayerlein, Chief Operations Officer and member of Board of Management of TÜV SÜD AG.

The new laboratory is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and technology which provide comprehensive testing capabilities ranging from chemical testing, performance and quality testing, and regulatory testing which covers flammability testing and fibre label identification to manufacturers in the softlines market. “To ensure technology transfer, Vietnamese laboratory technicians and engineers will undergo training to enhance their testing skills and know-how by technical softlines experts from the Asia Pacific region such as India and Hong Kong”, said Mr Ishan Palit, CEO of TÜV SÜD Asia Pacific.

By getting their products tested and certified by an independent third party, Vietnamese manufacturers will be able to provide greater assurance to their clients regarding the quality and safety of their products.

In conjunction with the opening, TÜV SÜD PSB Singapore also signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Quatest 3. The MOU aims to encourage cooperation and exchange of technical information and expertise in the areas of testing, inspection and products certification, providing updates on regulations, standards and regulations for products that are controlled in the respective countries. Being a global player providing technical services in relation to alternative energy and renewables, TÜV SÜD is well-placed in sharing its expertise on industrial inspections, failure analysis, products testing and certification, amongst others. With the MOU, TÜV SÜD aims to raise the competitiveness of Vietnam’s industries and increase market access for Vietnam manufacturers.
