Regulatory Testing

Align your business with international regulations

To gain entry into new markets, you must comply with international regulations. Accuracy in compliance is critical. For example, labelling instructions have to be absolutely correct. Failure to ensure this can lead to your product being recalled. That's why it's vital to engage an expert who can help your business comply with the various regulations enforced by domestic and foreign governments. At TÜV SÜD, we conduct a range of regulatory testing services.

  1. Fibre label recommendation
  2. Care label recommendation
  3. Flammability testing
  4. REACH & CPSIA requirements

Fibre label recommendation

We are well versed in the labelling requirements for fibre products that require a listing of the fibre content, the country of origin, and the identity of the manufacturer or dealer. For example:

  • In the US, manufacturers need to comply with the Labelling Requirements Under the Textile and Wool Acts
  • In the EU, products containing at least 80% by weight of textile fibres including raw, semi-worked, worked, semi-manufactured, semi-made and made-up products are covered in the Directive 2008/121/EC

Care label recommendation

Through our international client base, TÜV SÜD has experience in the various care labelling systems that are followed worldwide. Although the general principle remains consistent, the correct care labelling instructions for a particular region needs to be used before a product can be sold in that market. In most cases, labels for textile wearing apparel must have either washing or dry cleaning instructions and may be composed of either words or symbols.

Flammability testing

To address rising consumer awareness of product safety and eliminate highly flammable clothing from the market, the US and a number of EU countries have introduced national regulations establishing minimum flammability requirements for clothing. TÜV SÜD offers a wide range of Flammability Testing Services to ensure your products comply with the various international regulatory requirements.
